Oprah Presents "BELIEF" Series; URI Members to be featured

For three years Oprah has been working to create a television series that illuminates what bind us together as human beings — BELIEF. Episode 2, tells the story of Christian Pastor James Wuye and Muslim Imam Muhammad Ashafa, members of the United Religions Initiative Interfaith Mediation Centre Cooperation Circle. These men used to be brutal enemies but now work together to promote peace.

As I listened to President Obama address the nation on last week’s tragedy in San Bernardino, California I was surprised and relieved to hear a call for Americans to become active, as opposed to passive, neighbors to one another in this time of tension.

URI Members from California and Palestine Meet

Peacebuilders from California and Palestine, joined by their connection to United Religions Initiative, gathered in the San Francisco Bay Area last week. During a meeting at Sausalito Presbyterian Church, nine people gathered in a circle -- Christians and Jews, one Palestinian and eight Northern Californians, all members of the global United Religions Initiative family.

On 50th Anniversary, Cooperation Circle Leader Talks About Interfaith Training

2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Unity-and-Diversity World Council (UDC), which has been a pillar of the interfaith movement in the Los Angeles area since 1965! We want to thank founder Leland Steward, and all the members of UDC over the years for their contribution to building a more peaceful world.
