Purvanchal Seva Sansthan (PSS) was founded in the 1970s by Dr. Sudama Prasad Pandey to improve access to basic health services and rural sanitation for pro-poor and marginalized communities in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Initially serving deprived villages in Deoria district, PSS was formally registered as a society in 1972 and later under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act in 1985. Purvanchal Sewa Sansthan is a non-governmental organisation based in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh formed to make basic health facilities and rural sanitation accessible to poor and deprived communities. PSS works to empower vulnerable rural communities through integrated initiatives in health, education, livelihood development, natural resource management, and rural sanitation. Guided by a holistic development approach, the organization promotes community participation, women and child wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and grassroots awareness to support inclusive and lasting change.
